Tailoring Centers

LCMI’s first tailoring center (formerly Community Development Center) was opened in February 2014 in South India. Our first tailoring center in Nepal was launched in 2022. As of August 2023, we have opened 11 centers in India and Nepal combined by God's grace.

The purpose of tailoring centers is to equip women with practical skills that they can use to generate income for their families and to create an avenue to share the Gospel with the women who attend.

The tailoring centers are run by some of our qualified ministry team members who teach the women practical sewing and tailoring skills so that they can begin supporting themselves. We do daily devotions at each center. Our staff members often become close friends with the women, enabling them to listen to their personal cares and offer spiritual guidance and encouragement.

The tailoring course is 4 months long and is free to the women. This course is offered three times a year at each location. So as not to flood an area with trained seamstresses, LCMI changes locations after a certain number of courses are completed. Before the women graduate, they are evaluated on basic sewing skills, their ability to create and modify clothing patterns, and the pieces they have created during the course of their training.

We praise God for how He is moving in these women’s lives and in their families! Please pray that these women will not only learn to make a living but come to know the Giver of Life.
